G.726

G.726 is an implementation of ITU-T G.726 standard for conversion linear or A-law or µ-law PCM to and from a 40, 32, 24 or 16 kbit/s channel. The specification uses Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM) technique which is applicable to all waveforms, high-quality audio, modem data etc. This recommendation includes the G.721 and G.723 recommendations of the CCITT (The International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee). The codec is suitable for applications such as VoIP.
